Key do's and don'ts

The short list of things that keep customers happy and keep you protected.

Updated Sep 2, 2026

Do

  • Arrive early, with your full kit, ready to start.

  • Tap En Route when you leave and Start Job when you walk in — that's your check-in.

  • Do a quick walk-through with the customer before you start.

  • Photograph any damage you find before you start and report it in the app (see Something is broken). Customers can't blame you for what you've already reported.

  • Read product labels. Test unfamiliar products somewhere hidden first.

  • Work top to bottom, finish with floors, and check your own (and your team's) work.

  • Leave valuables exactly where you found them. If something's on the floor, put it somewhere visible.

  • Take photos of anything unusual — clutter, hazards, pests — and report it.

Don't

  • Don't use a product you're unsure of. Oven cleaner and bleach destroy benchtops, taps and floors.

  • Don't use any chemical on TV or computer screens.

  • Don't use the customer's products or equipment unless they ask you to.

  • Don't argue with a customer. Be polite, leave if you need to, and call 1300 009 363.

  • Don't contact a customer to reschedule or cancel — use the app so we can look after them.

  • Don't leave your products or equipment behind.

  • Don't bring anyone who isn't an approved Simply Maid cleaner. Every person on a job must have completed our checks.

  • Never take anything from a customer's home. Theft means immediate removal from the platform and possible legal action.
